Should prostitution be made legal in India?

First of all, I’m not really sure if it is (ill)-legal in India. but no matter what it still is an issue that require a deeper coverage and exposure.
I feel ashamed of my country when very frequently I’m finding news of innocent girls being raped everywhere (mostly in Delhi), one reason could be that Media is more vigilant in India these days than ever, but it doesn’t address the real problem. Why is it happening? Are we growing so sick that we can’t control our sex desire and exploit innocent people who have no idea why they were targeted and have to live with a painful memory throughout the life (if they do indeed choose to live).
Now this is my personal opinion and may not gel well with lots of other well minded citizens but,
With India’s economic growth and society becoming more open, it brought some curses for our country. Sex, once a forbidden word is not a taboo any more. People specially younger generation, have a need they don’t want to hide. They need to satisfy their urge and in absence of any other viable means they resort to criminal and condemnable acts like rape. Living in a world filled with glamour is, becoming more difficult than ever.
Is there a way to solve this? Yes. Sex institutions should be made legal. Society should accept this as a regular business. People working their or visiting these places shouldn’t be perceived as characterless. How does it benefit us the society?
  • Life of the sex workers improves. There are lots of women working in this field deprived of their basic rights and social status. It will help them live a better life.
  • People with sexual needs can go to these institutes and satisfy their sexual needs. They won’t go after innocent people who becomes the victims in absence of any such places.
  • Government gets revenue and stops spending on related criminal investigations.
  • More than this, world will become safer to live.
I know, people will tell me this is a wrong way to tackle with the issue and the people doing these nasty acts should change their mentality or we should punish them harder for their crime, but believe me it’s not the solution. It will not change the way those people think and act. Unless we get rid of the actual problem that is breaking the hell loose, it will never be got ridden of.
Of course there is no place for
  1. Forcing someone to  prostitution
  2. Child abuse
There is no excuse for these crimes and they should be given the most severe punishment for their crime.
